Recycling drop-offs will not be accepted at any other time.

You will be asked to show a photo ID
with your address at the recycling site. The recycling program is for McHenry Township
residential homeowners only, no out of state
residents, residents of other townships, or commercial
enterprises. If the staff on duty, for whatever reason,
feels the person requesting recycling is a contractor or lives
out of the area, that person will be turned away. This program
is funded by our residents and is for our residents.
Latex Paint Recycling Program Funding Cut
The State of Illinois is facing severe budget shortfalls. As a result, the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) will no longer be able to provide funding for our Latex Paint Recycling Program.
This has been a great program, as of September 2009, McHenry Township sent over thirty 55-gallon drums of paint to the IEPA and we recycled sixty gallons of white paint which was free to our residents. When you add up all the paint that we, as well as several other townships, have recycled it is a considerable amount of paint kept out of our landfills.
The last Latex Paint Recycling date was October 17, 2009.
Our Brush Recycling and Electronic Scrap Recycling Programs are not funded by the IEPA and will continue. If funding is restored at some time in the future for the Waste Paint Program, we will restart paint recycling.
Brush:
branches and twigs must be no longer than 8 inches in diameter
and 10 feet maximum length. Grass clippings, leaves and rubbish
will not be accepted. Road District personnel will chip all
branches into usable mulch, which will be available to
participants at no charge.
Wood chips are available at no cost to Township residents and
can be picked up any time the park gates are open. The chip pile
is located in the southeast corner of the McHenry Township
Recreation Center’s parking lot, 3519 N. Richmond Road, behind
the Moose Lodge. Please help yourself.
Electronic Scrap: McHenry Township Road District recognized a need in our community for a collection program for obsolete electronic products and thanks to the much needed additional space of our new Recycling Center building, we were able to expand our recycling program to include electronic scrap.
Computer hard drives, keyboards, mice, printers, scanners, calculators, word processors, battery backups and ink cartridges will be accepted at no charge. Other small electronic devices such as DVD players and VCR’s will also be accepted. There will be a $10 charge for each monitor. NO TELEVISIONS of any type will be accepted.
Read more about the electronic scrap program in our
E-Scrap
brochure.
Our recycling program is for McHenry Township residents only
and is not for commercial enterprises.
Not-for-profit organizations, schools and government entities within McHenry Township may call and set up an appointment for us to accept their Electronic Scrap.
