McHenry Township General & Emergency Assistance
General Assistance is available
through the Township for residents with very low or no income. The
Township also may provide Emergency Assistance based on the
situation and need.
In addition to assistance for shelter, food, clothing and medical,
the staff of the Supervisor’s office will work with residents to
find employment and other sources of assistance.
Applications are available for General Assistance at McHenry
Township office or you may printout an application and supporting
document here.

worker at the time of the scheduled interview.

Salvation Army Emergency Assistance
McHenry Township is an Extension Site for Salvation Army Emergency Assistance for residents residing on zip codes 60050, 60051, 60072, and 60097.
This assistance is similar to the township's Emergency Assistance and is in addition to the government funded programs and provides services to families on an emergency basis. Salvation Army is a faith based, non-for-profit agency and the program is subject to availability of these private resources.
The Salvation Army Back to School Program is in
need of these

McHenry Township
provides housing for FISH Food Pantry at McHenry Township
Hall, 3703 N. Richmond Road, on the lower level at the rear of the
building. Parking for participants is in the Township’s
employee parking lot on the south side of the building.

Applicants should call to schedule
an appointment to come in and fill out an application. All
recipients must register annually. The following paperwork is
needed to apply:
- Proof of income for the whole
household
- Picture IDs for anyone years age
18 and over
- Social Security cards for
everyone in the household
- Proof of residency such as
rental agreement/lease, mortgage coupon or a current utility
bill
The
Wonder Lake Neighbors Food Pantry
is housed at Nativity Lutheran Church, 3506 East Wonder Lake Road in Wonder Lake. The pantry is supported by area churches and organizations.
The Wonder Lake Food Pantry is open from
9 am to noon every Tuesday and Wednesday.
